About Us
Forward Ability Support is a not-for-profit organisation with 60 years history of providing key services to people with spinal cord injuries or similar related health conditions. We are driven to make a brighter and more positive future for our community by supporting people with spinal cord injuries to live their best life.
We're currently looking for Disability Support Workers to assist a client in their home in the Burraneer area with high-intensity personal care and complex support needs.

You will assist with daily tasks, such as:
- Personal Care: Showering, dressing, grooming and other personal care activities.
- Bowel Care: Supporting the client's established bowel routine.
- Wound Monitoring: Monitoring the client’s skin and existing wounds, identifying any deterioration, changes or new wounds, and promptly reporting and escalating concerns in accordance with the client’s care plan.
- Catheter Management:Assisting with catheter care, including techniques to promote fluid movement through the catheter and into the leg bag.
- Medical Support: Assisting with medication administration and prescribed medical support, including bowel irrigation.
- Hydration Support:
Assisting the client to maintain adequate hydration to support bladder health and help reduce the risk of bacterial growth.
- Mobility and Transfers: Using a hoist to safely transfer the client between relevant surfaces and equipment.
- Domestic Assistance:Cleaning relevant areas and equipment and maintaining a clean and protected environment.
- Shopping:Assisting with grocery and other shopping as required.
- Record Keeping: Completing accurate progress notes, documenting care provided, reporting incidents and escalating any concerns appropriately.
Available shifts:
- Monday: 4pm to 8pm
- Tuesday: 3pm to 8pm
- Wednesday: 3pm to 8pm
- Sunday: 6am to 8pm
Important things you should know about the role:
- We're looking for Casuals with the intention to convert to Permanent.
- All new starters undertake 3 days Induction program in Lidcombe.
- We're conducting in-person, face-to-face interviews in our Newington office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You must be available to attend the in-person interview.
To join our team, you'll need:
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- National Police Check
- First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Driver's licence and access to a vehicle
- Strong English communication skills
- Prior work reference
- Compassion, reliability and a positive attitude
