- Prepare, dispense and supply medicines from a prescription under the supervision of a pharmacist for checking and authorisation by a pharmacist.
- Maintain and review stock levels of scheduled and unscheduled medicines and consumables including monitoring of batch numbers, expiry dates and stock rotation.
This includes in automated medication distribution systems if applicable.
- Undertake environmental and equipment monitoring and recording.
- Assist with inventory management within hospital and health service facilities including ordering, receiving, storage, distribution and stocktake of medicines.
What We're Looking For Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to interpret prescriptions to facilitate dispensing processes.
- Knowledge of access and funding schemes, including the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Special Access Scheme.
- High level interpersonal skills, organisational skills, and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to achieve competence in the use of relevant technology utilised in the provision of pharmacy services
- Knowledge of relevant medicines related terminology.
Mandatory Requirements
- Completion of an approved Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT37115) or higher/equivalent certificate relevant to hospital pharmacy including the ‘Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest Stock' Module (HTLPA001)
or completion of a Certificate III in Community Pharmacy (SIR30116) or higher/equivalent plus ‘Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest Stock' Module (HTLPA001).
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
