About the role

Carruthers Contracting is seeking experienced Plant Operators to join our team on a multi-year project. Based in Laidley, you will operate and maintain a variety of plant and machinery equipment essential to our civil construction projects. This role is fundamental to ensuring our projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities:

- Operating a range of heavy plant and machinery including moxy, excavators, bulldozers, graders, rollers and other civil works equipment
- Conducting pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on all plant and machinery to ensure safe working conditions
- Following detailed site instructions and adhering to project specifications and schedules
- Maintaining accurate records of plant operation hours and fuel consumption
- Communicating effectively with site supervisors, project managers and other team members to ensure coordinated operations
- Implementing safe work practices and compliance with all health and safety regulations on site
- Identifying and reporting any mechanical faults or equipment issues promptly
- Assisting with the setup and breakdown of equipment as required

What we're looking for

- Current and valid RII or equivalent qualification demonstrating competency in plant operation
- Proven experience operating civil works plant and machinery, ideally within the construction industry
- Robust understanding of health and safety protocols and a commitment to working safely on site




- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to take direction from supervisors
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks associated with plant operation
- Reliability and punctuality, with the flexibility to adapt to casual work arrangements
- Experience with GPS-guided equipment or modern plant technology is advantageous
