A leading Defence industry organisation is seeking an experienced Policy Officer. Your new companyAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Policy Officer to join a Canberra-based organisation in a permanent capacity. Working closely with a newly appointed CEO and leadership team, you will play a key role in reviewing, developing, and maintaining the organisation's policy framework to ensure it remains fit for purpose and aligned with operational requirements.

Your new roleThis is a hands-on policy position focused on reviewing an existing policy library, identifying gaps, conducting research, and developing high-quality policies and supporting documentation.

Key responsibilities include

- Reviewing and assessing the organisation's existing policy library and framework.
- Identifying policy gaps and researching best-practice approaches to address business requirements.
- Writing, reviewing, implementing, and maintaining organisational policies, procedures, and related documentation.
- Preparing policy papers, briefing materials, reports, and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Researching legislative, regulatory, and industry developments to inform policy updates.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to gather information and support policy implementation.
- Ensuring policies remain current, compliant, and aligned with organisational requirements.
- Supporting governance, risk, and compliance activities as required.
- Providing clear and practical policy advice to leaders and stakeholders across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:





- Strong experience in policy writing, development, review, and implementation.
- Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into clear, practical policies.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience within Defence, security, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, regulatory, or other complex operating environments will be highly regarded.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Baseline Security Clearance preferred. However, clearance sponsorship can be considered for the right candidate.
- A collaborative, approachable, and professional working style, with a genuine focus on building positive relationships.
