The Opportunity Troocoo Healthcare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a placement within the Extended Day Surgery in Mackay.

This is a great opportunity for a confident RN looking to work within a varied surgical environment, supporting patients across the surgical continuum from pre-admission through to post-discharge care.

n

The Day Surgery Unit includes:

n

- Pre-admission clinic
n
- Day of surgery admissions
n
- Second-stage day-only recovery
n
- Extended day surgery
n
- Endoscopy
n
- Patient and staff education
n
- Multidisciplinary consultation and patient-centred care
n

n

The unit supports a range of diagnostic and interventional endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, gastroscopy, bronchoscopy and ERCP.

n

About the Placement

n

This is a ward based role within the Extended Day Surgery Unit, with 24/7 shift work, including early, late and night shifts.

n

There may also be an opportunity or requirement to pool to other wards as needed, so flexibility and the ability to adapt to different clinical environments is highly desirable.

What We're Looking For

n

n




- Current AHPRA registration
n
- Solid clinical skills and confidence working in a hospital environment
n
- Previous experience in day surgery, surgical, endoscopy or acute care environments highly regarded
n
- Knowledge of ieMR and proficiency using the system
n
- Previous experience working in Australia, Queensland Health and/or Mackay HHS highly regarded
n
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including early, late and night shifts
n
- Flexibility to work across other wards if required
n

Contract Details

- 31 August 2026 – 18 October 2026
n
- Rotating 6, 8, 10 and 12-hour shifts
n
- Working days and days off as per roster
n
