Resources has recently entered an exciting partnership with Havilah Resources to advance the Kalkaroo Copper-Gold Project in South Australia.

We are seeking an experienced and Principal Health Safety and Wellbeing professional to join the Sandfire team. This role offers the opportunity to provide operational Health, Safety, and Wellbeing support across Sandfire’s assets, working closely with operational leaders to drive the Group HSW strategy, enhance capabilities, and ensure consistent, high-quality execution.

In this position, you will collaborate with leaders and HSW teams to deliver practical advice, coaching, technical support, and assurance activities, all aimed at continuous improvement in HSW performance. Regular domestic and international travel to Sandfire's operations will be required to support initiatives, build operational capability, and strengthen HSW standards.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

- Provide practical HSW support to operations, exploration, and functional teams to implement Sandfire’s strategies and initiatives
- Collaborate with leaders to translate HSW requirements into actionable plans and outcomes
- Support the HSW Management System, including audits, monitoring, and assurance activities
- Assist in hazard management programs, critical control verification, and risk reduction initiatives




- Coach leaders and teams in safety leadership and Sandfire’s Don’t Walk Past philosophy
- Promote psychological safety and psychosocial risk management through assessments and leader development
- Review incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
- Monitor and report on HSW performance, assurance, and incident learnings
- Facilitate risk reviews, workshops, and engagement activities to build capability and improve outcomes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HSW systems and processes

About You

- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- 7–10 years’ health and safety experience in mining or heavy industry, including operational support and strategy implementation
- Experience across underground/open pit mining, processing, projects, and construction
- International experience and ability to work across diverse cultures
- Robust background in incident investigation, risk management, assurance, and critical control performance
- Proven ability to identify systemic issues and drive practical improvements
- Experience partnering with leaders and frontline teams to enhance safety culture and capability
- Knowledge of HSW management systems, assurance, and Principal Hazard/Critical Control Management
- Practical understanding of psychosocial risk management
- Strong analytical, reporting, and action-tracking skills
- Knowledge of mining legislation and regulations
- Experience with HSW systems (e.g., IsoMetrix, INX, Velocity EHS) is desirable
