About the role
As our Process & Automation Engineer – Quality Systems, you'll split your time between two horizons: driving measurable improvement in the process and machinery we run today, and scoping the automation of tomorrow. Working alongside production and maintenance teams on the factory floor, you'll turn production problems into practical, maintainable engineering solutions — and own the Quality System and Quality Control remit to make sure every change lands safely and consistently.
Key responsibilities
- Assess existing hose manufacturing, extrusion, weaving, lining, handling and testing processes to identify immediate improvement and future automation opportunities
- Design and specify electro-mechanical automation systems, controls architecture, sensors, actuators, drives and machine interfaces
- Develop engineering concepts, scopes, layouts, calculations, functional descriptions and implementation plans for automation upgrades
- Coordinate fabrication, procurement, installation, commissioning and validation of automation equipment and system modifications
- Work with production and maintenance teams to integrate automation into live manufacturing processes with minimal disruption
- Support PLC, HMI, instrumentation and control troubleshooting, optimisation and continuous improvement activity
- Own and drive the End to End Quality System and Quality Control, ensuring modifications are delivered, documented and validated to quality standards
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including drawings, bills of materials, change records, SWI inputs and maintenance information
- Lead or support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, risk assessments and performance verification of modified equipment
- Analyse downtime, scrap, reject, quality and cycle-time data to recommend practical engineering improvements
About you
- Demonstrated electro-mechanical engineering experience in automation, machinery upgrades or manufacturing systems improvement
- Strong understanding of industrial controls, instrumentation, motors/drives, sensors, pneumatics and machine safety principles
- Sound judgement on cost, reliability and maintainability when turning production problems into engineering solutions
- Experience managing projects from concept through commissioning in an operational manufacturing environment
- Solid technical communication, root-cause analysis, documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with quality systems and quality control in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated delivery of cost–benefit analysis for proposed solutions
- Tertiary qualification in mechanical, mechatronic, electrical or automation engineering
- Current driver licence
