Job Title: Production Planner / Scheduler - Precision Machining

About the Role:
This is not a clerical scheduling position. This role owns the flow of work through a multi-machine CNC production environment.
You will take full responsibility for production planning and scheduling across turning, milling, and finishing work centres in a high-mix, low-volume aerospace manufacturing setting. The focus is on ensuring work moves efficiently through the factory, bottlenecks are managed proactively, and on-time delivery performance is consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a finite production schedule across multiple CNC work centres
- Manage capacity vs demand and proactively identify production bottlenecks
- Release, prioritise, and sequence work to maintain solid on-time delivery (OTD) performance
- Monitor and manage WIP, adjusting schedules in real time based on constraints
- Collaborate closely with operations, quality, project teams, and leadership
- Improve planning accuracy, lead times, and overall production flow
- Drive continuous improvement in scheduling systems and production responsiveness
- Support decision-making that balances cost, efficiency, and customer commitments
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in production planning and scheduling within precision machining or advanced manufacturing involving CNC Milling and Lathe
- Strong understanding of CNC environments, routing, setup times, and machine capacity constraints
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and take ownership of delivery outcomes
- Strong commercial awareness of how scheduling impacts cost, efficiency, and performance
- Aerospace, defence, or AS9100 environment experience highly desirable
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple operational stakeholders
