About the role

Your goal as Program Coordinator is to create, plan and execute the provision of fun, safe and inclusive environments by ensuring that all elements of your program have been considered, planned for, assessed for risk and are delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with Camp Kiah policies and procedures. Program Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager. All Camp Kiah job roles have an element of face to face contact with young people.

Key responsibilities

- Planning and coordination of a program
- Ensuring the implementation of policies and procedures within the planned program
- Assisting services with gaining information about programs via telephone and email
- Communicating with referring agencies about the support needs of young people being registered for camp
- Gathering relevant information to assess the suitability of current referrals for their program
- Ensuring individual participant needs, risks and support requirements are understood before camp and communicated with staff
- Attending program meetings to present new young people to the team and discuss suitability for each program
- Participate in training, supervision and meetings
- Engage in program activities to gather an understanding of what occurs during the program




- Complete camp planning to ensure that camp runs smoothly and all invested parties have the information they require

About you

- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience in a relevant field
- Experience working with clients affected by issues including neglect, child abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and parental substance abuse
- Ability to give full attention to what social service clients are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions, and not interrupt inappropriately
- Awareness of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks
- Proficient in word, excel, outlook, and powerPoint
- Ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset
- Able to develop a treatment/behaviour/safety plan

- Knowledge of crisis intervention
- Valid driver's license, First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one, valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check or willing and eligible to obtain one prior to commencement of employment
- Flexibility in working hours and days and ability to work weekends and evenings
