We are seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to join our commercial construction team, with a strong focus on Work Health & Safety.
This is a hands-on site-based role suited to a Project Coordinator who enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day delivery of construction projects, while taking ownership of WHS coordination and compliance across the site.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, subcontractors and trades to ensure projects are well coordinated, safely delivered and maintained to a high standard.
The role is ideal for someone with a minimum of 2 years' construction industry experience, who has practical WHS experience and wants to build their career in project coordination within commercial construction.
Key Responsibilities
WHSEQ – Primary Focus
- Coordinate and maintain WHSEQ requirements across active construction sites.
- Assist with implementing and maintaining the company's WHS Management System and site-specific requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks and WHSEQ checks.
- Identify hazards, risks and non-conformances and assist with implementing corrective actions.
- Assist with preparation, review and implementation of SWMS, risk assessments and other WHS documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with SWMS, insurances, site rules, PPE and safety requirements.
- Coordinate site inductions and maintain site induction records.
- Maintain WHSEQ registers, records, inspections and documentation.
- Assist with incident, hazard and near-miss reporting and investigations.
- Assist with environmental and quality requirements, including inspections, records and corrective actions.
- Monitor housekeeping, access, amenities, signage, exclusion zones and general site safety standards.
- Assist with toolbox meetings and WHSEQ communications.
- Ensure required documentation is current, accessible and appropriately filed.
- Support continuous improvement of WHSEQ systems and site practices.
Project Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager and Site Manager with the day-to-day coordination of construction projects.
- Support the safe, efficient and productive delivery of construction projects.
- Coordinating site activities, supervising labourers and subcontractors as directed
- Working with power & hand tools
- Maintaining site presentation
- Ensuring compliance with project specifications and company standards.
- Perform general construction support duties, including pick-up and delivery of site equipment, servicing of site machinery & tools
- Assist with site establishment, amenities setup and temporary works.
- Assist with coordination if daily labour activities and allocate tasks to site labourers
- Monitor site productivity and identify opportunities for improvement
- Provide guidance and direction to labourers and subcontractors
- Plant & Equipment responsibilities including safely operate plant and equipment within competency levels, Conduct routine equipment inspections, Report faults and maintenance requirements promptly
Site & Construction Support
- Maintain a strong understanding of site activities and upcoming works.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and site personnel.
- Assist in coordinating site access, deliveries and logistics where required.
- Identify potential construction, safety or coordination issues and escalate them promptly.
- Develop positive working relationships with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Provide practical support to the Site and Project Management teams as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident working in a construction environment.
You will ideally have
- Minimum 2 years' experience within the construction industry.
- Previous experience in WHS/WHSEQ coordination or a strong practical understanding of construction safety requirements.
- Cert IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent.
- Experience working on commercial construction sites.
- Understanding of SWMS, risk assessments, site inspections and incident reporting.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Positive communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with subcontractors and site teams.
- Ability to identify issues and take initiative to get things resolved.
- Competent computer skills and confidence working with project documentation and systems.
- A practical, hands-on approach to construction and WHSEQ.
- Current White Card.
Desirable:
- Formal WHSEQ qualification or relevant training.
- Experience with construction project management software.
- Experience working within a commercial construction company.
- First Aid certification.

- WHSEQ requirements are consistently implemented and maintained across site.
- Site documentation, inspections and registers are accurate and up to date.
- Subcontractors understand and comply with WHS requirements.
- Hazards and issues are identified early and followed through to resolution.
- Project coordination tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- The Project Manager and Site Manager have reliable support across both WHSEQ and project delivery.
- You become a trusted and proactive member of the project team.
