Staff React Engineer | Immediate Start | FTC | ASAP to May 2027n

Our client, a leading technology business, is modernising a legacy CRM onto a recent React front-end, with AI capability being built directly into the platform. As Staff Engineer, you'll own the front-end architecture that gets it there.n

The opportunityn

You'll own how the new React app coexists with the legacy CRM during transition, things like iframe embedding, shared auth/session behaviour, and migration sequencing, while setting the technical direction multiple squads will follow, as AI-driven features get built into the product itself.n

What you'll don

- Own front-end architecture for a major CRM modernisation effort, including AI-powered product capabilityn
- Set component architecture, state management and testing standards across squadsn
- Make and own high-impact technical decisions on complex, multi-squad initiativesn
- Define API contracts and integration standards with backend engineers (REST/GraphQL)n
- Tackle the most ambiguous front-end problems no one else has untangled yetn
- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across teamsn

What we're looking forn

n




- Over 10 years in front-end development, React and TypeScript experience at scalen
- Proven experience leading a front-end migration or rewrite that coexisted with a legacy systemn
- Track record of driving architectural decisions across teams, including through disagreementn
- Strong hands-on use of agentic AI tools to boost developer productivity (coding assistants, AI-driven testing/debugging workflows)n
- Comfortable shaping backend/API contracts even if front-end is your core specialismn
- Strong grasp of SOLID principles, accessibility (WCAG) and performance at scalen

Location & contractn

Ideally based in Sydney or Brisbane, but not essential. Fixed-term contract until 31 May 2027. Candidates must be able to start before 1 September 2026, so immediate availability is preferred.
