Project Manager – Data Centre Application Migration

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong planning background to lead the end-to-end migration of applications from one data centre to another. The role is responsible for defining the migration strategy, developing detailed transition plans, coordinating multiple technology and business teams, and ensuring migrations are delivered safely, on time, and with minimal business disruption.

This is a delivery-focused role requiring structured planning, strong stakeholder management, and rigorous control over dependencies, risks, and cutover activities.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Governance

- Develop and maintain detailed migration plans, schedules, and dependency maps for application and infrastructure moves
- Define migration waves, cutover strategies, rollback procedures, and go/no-go criteria
- Establish project governance, reporting, RAID logs, and change control processes
- Ensure alignment to organisational standards, security, and compliance requirements

Delivery & Execution
- Lead application migration activities including discovery, readiness assessments, testing, rehearsal, cutover, and post-migration validation
- Coordinate across infrastructure, application, network, security, vendor, and business teams
- Manage interdependencies between applications, environments, and shared services
- Track progress against milestones, proactively manage risks and issues, and implement mitigation plans

Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, business owners, and technical leads




- Manage 3rd-party vendors and service providers involved in migration activities
- Communicate clearly on timelines, risks, impacts, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences

Financial & Commercial Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls
- Support contract management and vendor commercial discussions where required

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering data centre migrations or large-scale application migrations
- Strong planning capability with hands-on experience creating detailed schedules (MS Project or similar)
- Solid understanding of application architectures, infrastructure, networks, and hosting environments
- Experience managing complex dependencies and business-critical cutovers
- Robust risk, issue, and change management skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable

- Experience with cloud, hybrid, or co-location migration programs
- Exposure to banking, financial services, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with ITIL, Prince2, PMP, or Agile delivery frameworks

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Business, or related field
- Project Management certification (PMP, Prince2, or equivalent) preferred
