Our Biodiversity & Heritage Regulator team is currently seeking to appoint a Project Officer H5N1.
The Project Officer supports the DCCEEW Avian Influenza (H5 bird flu) Coordination Team to deliver wildlife preparedness and response activities for H5 bird flu in NSW. The role contributes to project delivery, preparedness planning, stakeholder engagement, data management, spatial mapping and analysis, and other tasks related to H5 bird flu response.
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, ecology, geography, natural resource management, GIS, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated experience using GIS software and managing large environmental and spatial datasets.
- Solid capability in computer-based mapping and spatial analysis, particularly relating to biodiversity, environmental or conservation data.
- Experience supporting projects through planning, coordination, reporting, documentation and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data and research into practical recommendations.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, briefs and technical information for diverse audiences.
- A collaborative team player who builds positive stakeholder relationships and contributes to a supportive team culture.
Key knowledge and experience
- Relevant scientific qualifications.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working with data,
spreadsheets and/or spatial information.
- Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Interest or experience in biodiversity conservation, wildlife health, emergency management or biosecurity is desirable.
- Specific knowledge of H5 bird flu is NOT required
