About Central Steel Build

This is a genuine relationship-based sales role within a project-driven business, suited to a high-performing professional who enjoys identifying current opportunities, engaging with customers, solving problems and building long-term partnerships.

Based in Kyneton, you will develop and manage a robust sales pipeline across the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors. Working closely with our design, estimating and project teams, you will guide customers from initial enquiry through to project award, delivering tailored steel building solutions that meet their needs.

Because our buildings are engineered rather than off-the-shelf, this role sits at the intersection of sales and technical capability. You will be reviewing plans, advising on construction methods and Australian Standards, and translating operational requirements into a buildable, commercially sound solution.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and manage a sales pipeline across agricultural, industrial and commercial markets
- Conduct customer meetings both on-site and in-office
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
- Manage the full sales process from prospecting through to negotiation and close
- Follow up all enquiries and quotations through the sales funnel
- Provide technical advice on steel buildings, construction methods and Australian Standards
- Review building plans and collaborate with estimators on complex projects
- Maintain accurate CRM records in HubSpot
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience throughout the project journey
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and sales process discipline

What you'll bring

- Demonstrated technical experience with structural steel sheds or buildings — gained in sales, estimating, design, project management or construction delivery
- Working knowledge of steel building components, spans, portal frame construction, cladding systems and site requirements




- The ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications
- A proven record in consultative, solution-based selling within a project or construction environment
- Confidence engaging with farmers, business owners, builders and developers
- Strong commercial judgement and the discipline to manage a pipeline end to end
- Familiarity with CRM systems, ideally HubSpot
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel regionally

About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- 6+ years' experience in project-based sales within construction, building products or manufacturing
- Strong understanding of construction practices, structural steel or related building systems
- Proven ability to develop customer relationships and convert opportunities into sales
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Experience working with CRM systems (HubSpot highly regarded)
- Ability to read and interpret building plans
- Strong commercial acumen and customer-first mindset
