About Midpoint
Midpoint Psychology is a small, established private psychology practice in Fannie Bay, Darwin. We are looking for a Registered or Clinical Psychologist interested in building a sustainable, trauma-focused practice with us. Our work is predominantly individual psychological therapy with adults, with trauma and PTSD forming a significant part of our clinical population. We have established referral relationships supporting Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Defence populations, alongside Medicare and private clients.
We are looking for someone whose clinical interests genuinely align with this work — an established trauma-focused psychologist, or someone who wants to deliberately develop their practice further in this direction.
Midpoint Provides
The infrastructure around your clinical work and client journey:
- established local referral pathways;
- intake and administration;
- billing and appointment systems;
- established practice systems and operational frameworks;
- eligible late-cancellation remuneration; and
- beautifully furnished consulting rooms.
The aim is to leave you with as much space as possible for psychological practice, with clear service boundaries.
About You
You are a Registered or Clinical Psychologist who is comfortable practising autonomously, values professional integrity and wants therapy to remain at the centre of your work. You are comfortable practising independently, with Midpoint's Clinical and Business Directors predominantly working remotely and responsive support available when required.
Do I need to practise EMDR?
Ideally,
yes — or genuinely want to. Existing EMDR training and experience are highly desirable. If you're an otherwise strong fit and want to develop further in trauma-focused practice, we're open to financially supporting appropriate EMDR training.
Can I practise via telehealth?
No. This position is in person from our Fannie Bay clinic in Darwin, NT.
One of Midpoint's strengths is psychological care grounded in the Northern Territory context, community and referral workplace. That's the practice we're recruiting for.
How many hours?
6–10+ clinical hours per week. Choose your consulting day/s and hours. Business hours are available, with evening and weekend consulting optional should you choose.
We prioritise practitioner fit and longevity over consulting volume.
What's the arrangement?
- Contractor / sole trader
- $160–$180 per session including GST
- Choose your consulting days and hours
- In-person, Fannie Bay
- Optional evenings and weekends
- EMDR training support available for the right practitioner
You'll need AHPRA registration, Medicare eligibility, an ABN, appropriate professional insurance and relevant screening.
Why Us Together?
Midpoint is not trying to become the biggest psychology practice in Darwin. We're building a small, durable practice where psychologists can practise well for a long time — with good systems, clear boundaries, professional integrity and calm rooms.
If you're already practising EMDR, or you're serious about developing further as a trauma-focused psychologist, we'd genuinely like to hear from you.
