About Safe Ag Systems

Safe Ag Systems is a global-facing AgTech Software as a Service company. Having recently passed our ten-year anniversary, we deliver a web and mobile platform that makes agricultural workplaces safer. Our engineering and product teams are distributed across multiple countries and work as one team.

About the Role

We are hiring someone that has experience in test automation, saw what good looks and now ready to lead the next stage of our quality maturity. You will own the testing platform, write automated testing, and make sure our customers gets the quality they deserve. You are joining at a deliberate turning point. Testing already happens here - we have an established manual and test-management practice, and an emerging code-based end-to-end automation suite. What we do not yet have is one person who owns the direction, brings those threads together, and makes automation scale with our engineering output. That is this role, and it comes with real decision-making authority over what we automate, in what order, and how we measure it.

You will work closely with Product, Development and business stakeholders to improve release confidence, strengthen testing practice, and introduce automation that delivers measurable value rather than activity.

What You'll Do

Automation strategy and delivery

- Own the automation strategy end to end: assess the approaches we have today, recommend a single sustainable direction, and take it through to delivery
- Identify and prioritise the user workflows where automation removes the most risk, and automate those first
- Build and maintain automated regression suites across both up-to-date single-page applications and long-lived legacy web applications
- Deliver in increments that pay off as they land, rather than a big-bang framework rebuild
- Improve coverage and - just as importantly - reliability. A flaky suite is worse than no suite
- Work with developers to make the product itself more testable, and to integrate automated testing into how software is delivered

Test environments and continuous integration
- Partner with Platform Engineering to establish reliable, repeatable environments and test data for automated runs
- Integrate automated tests into pull request and release pipelines, so results reach developers while they can still act on them
- Treat environment and test-data problems as first-class quality work,

not somebody else's blocker

Hands-on quality assurance
- Test across web and mobile applications ahead of release
- Design and execute test plans, test cases and exploratory testing
- Validate new features, enhancements and bug fixes
- Investigate, reproduce and document customer-reported issues, and support root cause analysis on production incidents
- Assess release readiness and communicate risk clearly - including when the answer is "not yet"

Quality intelligence
- Define coverage and quality metrics that a non-technical stakeholder can act on
- Report progress against company-level quality objectives, which are visible to our executive team
- Become the person Product and Engineering ask before they ship

About You

- You have experience in software testing and quality assurance
- You have successfully implemented or significantly expanded automated testing in a commercial software environment
- You are comfortable in an imperfect codebase - legacy alongside modern - and you improve testability rather than waiting for someone else to
- You understand that automation is a tool for improving quality and scalability, not an objective in itself
- You take ownership of outcomes and focus on measurable results
- You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You enjoy investigating complex problems and finding the real cause
- You balance pragmatism with quality and risk management
- You work well in a distributed, remote-first team

Required Experience

- 3+ years in a software testing, quality assurance or quality engineering role
- Demonstrated experience implementing automated testing in a commercial software environment
- Experience building and maintaining automated regression suites over time - maintenance is the hard part
- Experience testing complex web applications, including applications you cannot easily change or that were never built with test hooks
- Ability to write automation in a mainstream language (TypeScript / JavaScript, C#,

Python or similar) and read application code well enough to diagnose a failure
- Hands-on experience testing mobile applications
- Experience working closely with software development teams
- Strong defect investigation and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to drive quality initiatives independently, from concept through to delivery
- Excellent written and verbal English - our engineering team is distributed and works in English

Highly Regarded

- Playwright (our current end-to-end suite is Playwright and TypeScript), Cypress, Selenium or similar frameworks
- TypeScript
- CI/CD pipeline work, particularly Azure DevOps
- Testing legacy Microsoft web stacks (ASP.NET WebForms or MVC) alongside modern JavaScript single-page applications
- Vue.js
- Mobile automation such as Appium - our mobile automation is still at planning stage, so this is an opportunity rather than a prerequisite
- .NET MAUI or Xamarin applications
- SQL, data validation and test data management
- Quality metrics, reporting and governance frameworks
- Test management tooling (Zephyr, Xray or similar)
- SaaS products and cloud-hosted platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure
- Performance, load or security testing
- Jira

Our Technology Environment

- A mature ASP.NET web application that remains central to the product
- Vue.js / JavaScript / TypeScript single-page applications
- A .NET MAUI mobile application for iOS and Android, with several areas rendered as shared web content
- Microsoft Azure cloud services, Azure SQL databases and Azure DevOps delivery pipelines
- An early-stage Playwright and TypeScript end-to-end suite, alongside a test-management-led manual regression practice

What Success Looks Like in Your First 12 Months

- Solid automated coverage across critical business workflows, running on a schedule and in the delivery pipeline
- Manual regression effort measurably reduced, with that time redirected to exploratory and risk-based testing
- Reliable test environments and test data for automated runs, established in partnership with Platform Engineering
- Meaningful quality metrics that Product and the executive team use to make release decisions
- Improved release confidence and fewer escaped defects in the areas automated first
- You are a trusted advisor on quality across Product and Engineering
