Hydra Search have partnered with a growing engineering consultancy entering an exciting new phase of expansion, with a focus on developing its high-voltage transmission line and substation engineering capability.

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer with strong high-voltage and transmission experience to deliver detailed electrical engineering design, studies and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and delivery of electrical engineering solutions across high-voltage transmission and substation projects.
n
- Undertake technical assessments and engineering analysis to support the design, specification and optimisation of HV infrastructure.
n
- Develop detailed design documentation, including electrical schematics, equipment schedules, technical specifications, calculations and construction deliverables.
n
- Perform specialist transmission line assessments covering areas such as thermal performance, insulation requirements, corona effects, audible noise and electromagnetic interference.

- Apply engineering expertise to the selection, specification and arrangement of HV primary plant and substation equipment.

- Take technical ownership of assigned project packages, ensuring engineering deliverables are accurate, practical and aligned with project requirements.

- Work closely with civil, structural, drafting and other engineering disciplines to resolve interfaces and develop coordinated project solutions.

- Liaise with clients, network operators, contractors and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate technical solutions.

The ideal Candidate will have:

n

n
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a Power Systems or High Voltage focus.
n
- Demonstrated experience in a senior electrical engineering role within the high-voltage or transmission industry.
n
- Robust hands-on experience personally delivering detailed electrical engineering studies and designs, rather than solely reviewing work completed by others.
n
- Experience delivering primary electrical design across transmission lines, substations, switchyards or transmission and distribution infrastructure.
