North Coast Drafting Services is hiring an experienced residential draftsperson to take ownership of Class 1 projects from brief through to surveyor sign-off. This is a production role for someone with 3 to 5 years of WA residential drafting experience who is ready to run their own projects with minimal oversight and produce work to a consistently high standard.
You will work directly with the Director and become a key part of a small, established team. The role exists because demand has outgrown current capacity.
What you'll be doing
- Receive project briefs and identify any compliance, scope, or design issues early
- Produce full drawing sets for Class 1 residential projects (new builds, alterations and additions, retrospective and as-constructed) using established North Coast templates and SOPs
- Apply WA R-Codes (Volume 1) and NCC Volume Two to every project, with confident interpretation rather than reliance on supervision
- Lodge planning and building approval packages with relevant WA shires
- Liaise with surveyors and shire officers on technical matters within project scope
- Manage amendments through to surveyor sign-off and CDC issue
- Maintain project documentation, drawing revisions, and time tracking per company SOPs
About you We're looking for someone who is:
- A residential draftsperson with 3 to 5 years of post-graduate WA experience
- Minimum Certificate IV qualification in Building Design or related field required
- Confident running a Class 1 project end-to-end from brief to lodgement with check-only intervention
- Fluent in Revit, including working with templates, families, schedules, and sheet sets
- Experienced with shire lodgement processes
- Working knowledge of WA R-Codes, NCC Volume Two, and the WA building approval pathway
- Comfortable preparing retrospective and as-constructed drawing sets
- Detail-oriented, accurate,
and committed to compliance and presentation standards
- Solutions-focused: identifies issues early, presents options, lodges with confidence
- Professional, reliable, and able to manage their own workload across multiple concurrent projects
- Must have valid Australian work rights including work visa authorisation
A portfolio of personally completed drawing sets will be required at interview stage.
What we offer
- $80,000 to $85,000 base salary depending on experience, plus superannuation
- Full-time role, 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Established SOPs, templates, training modules, and quality systems already in place
- A clear progression path as the firm grows, with future opportunity to step into senior or management roles
- Modern Joondalup office at Liberty Executive Offices, walking distance from the train station, with end-of-trip facilities, allocated parking, and on-site amenities
- Company-issued device, Revit licence, and full IT support
- Supportive working environment that values family time and sustainable workloads
- A small, driven team where your work directly shapes client outcomes
