Contract: 12-months A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Product Risk & Compliance Manager to support its Enterprise & Operational Risk and Compliance function, with a focus on enabling compliant delivery of product, customer, and regulatory initiatives across its Australian business.

This role will work closely with product, delivery, and business teams to ensure Australian consumer credit obligations and customer outcomes are embedded from ideation through to launch and ongoing operation, while balancing commercial objectives. The engagement will operate independently at the intersection of product, risk, and compliance, reducing dependency on central compliance resources.

The consultant will be expected to operate as a trusted advisor to the business, providing pragmatic, commercially aware compliance guidance while maintaining strong regulatory discipline.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise product, delivery, and business teams on Australian consumer credit compliance requirements, including responsible lending obligations, customer outcomes, disclosures, and communications
- Take end-to-end ownership of product compliance activities, partnering with product teams across design, change initiatives, launch governance, pricing changes, and customer communications
- Provide practical, implementation-focused guidance throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation and design through to launch, monitoring, and ongoing operation
- Review product design, customer communications, distribution practices, and operational processes to ensure regulatory obligations are embedded into delivery decisions
- Challenge and guide stakeholders constructively,

identifying practical options to manage compliance risk without escalating every issue to a separate compliance team
- Translate regulatory obligations into clear business guidance that balances customer outcomes, regulatory expectations, and commercial objectives
- Identify compliance risks, control considerations, and customer outcome implications arising from product and change initiatives
- Apply judgement to determine when matters can be resolved through practical guidance versus escalation to Legal, Line 2 Compliance, or other specialist teams
- Support defensible regulatory positions by documenting advice, assumptions, decisions, and risk trade-offs clearly and consistently

Your Background

- Strong Australian consumer credit compliance experience, including practical understanding of obligations under the NCCPA, ASIC Act, and related responsible lending requirements
- Experience working in, or closely with, product, delivery, or Line 1 risk/compliance teams in a financial services environment; non-bank lending experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to provide practical compliance advice across the product lifecycle, including ideation, design, implementation, launch, and ongoing operation
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge, advise, and guide product and business teams independently
- Commercially pragmatic judgement, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance
- Suitable backgrounds may include Product Risk Manager, Product Compliance Manager, Line 1 Risk & Compliance Advisor, or a product-focused compliance qualified; traditional Line 2 compliance experience alone is unlikely to be sufficient unless supported by practical product delivery exposure
