As part of the next stage of the Technology operating model, DAI is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead software development and web and mobile engineering. Reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer, the Head of Engineering will be accountable for delivery, quality, security, reliability and technical direction across the custom platforms supporting DAI's freight and logistics operations, including the core Transport Management System.

The role offers the opportunity to shape engineering strategy, architecture, operating practices and culture while leading multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.

Here is what you will be doing:

n

Lead software development and web and mobile engineering

n

Own the engineering operating model, technical direction and architecture

n

Lead planning, prioritisation and roadmap delivery

n

Strengthen automated testing, secure development, CI/CD and DevSecOps

n





Govern technical debt, reliability, scalability and performance

n

Manage capacity, dependencies, delivery risk and workforce planning

n

Lead and develop engineering leaders and teams

n

Manage specialist partners and assure externally delivered work

n

Partner with executives, PM&BI; and operational leaders

n

Provide transparent reporting on delivery, risk, cost and value

n

Significant leadership experience across software engineering and business-critical platforms

n

Strong knowledge of modern architecture, APIs, integration and scalable application design

n

Experience improving engineering quality, DevSecOps, CI/CD and reliability

n

Experience leading multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams

n

Commercial judgement across internal development, vendors and build-versus-buy decisions

n

Clear communication across engineering, executive and operational stakeholders

n

A record of building capable teams, leaders and disciplined engineering culture
