Emerald House is a strategic communications and government relations firm working across energy, infrastructure, education and advocacy. Our clients include electricity networks, renewable energy investors, national industry bodies and major not-for-profits.
We are looking for someone who has worked as a media adviser or press secretary in a federal or state ministerial office, or in a press gallery as a journalist, to take a senior role in the business.
You will bring
- Translating complex policy and regulatory material into commercial and political risk, then into a story that runs
- Identifying political pain points and pressure points across federal and NSW portfolios, and knowing how to act on them
- Established relationships across the press gallery, ministerial offices and departments, and the credibility to use them
- Sharp, rapid writing under deadline:
op-eds, submissions, talking points and ministerial correspondence
- Sound news judgment
What we offer
- Three days a week, structured properly, with a separate arrangement for crisis and surge work
- Direct work with the founder, a Walkley and Kennedy Award winning journalist with two decades across Nine News, Network Ten and 2GB
- Senior clients across energy, infrastructure and advocacy, with real access and no pitch theatre or timesheet culture
- Genuine flexibility on how and where you work
- Remuneration negotiated to reflect experience and scope
