Health Industry Bookkeeping Services (HIBS) provides specialist bookkeeping services exclusively to private medical and allied health practices across Australia. Many of our team members have previously worked as practice managers, giving us a genuine, first-hand understanding of the operational and compliance demands that are unique to healthcare businesses. We do not treat health industry bookkeeping as a side specialty, it is the entirety of what we do, and we take pride in doing it exceptionally well.

We are a small team that works closely together, collaborating to deliver the best possible service to our clients while each of us carries individual accountability for our own portfolio.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage a personal portfolio of health industry clients. This is a genuinely senior position: you will carry full accountability for the accurate, timely and compliant delivery of bookkeeping services across your portfolio, working to a scheduled fortnightly processing cycle with the level of autonomy and trust that a role of this seniority deserves.

This role is fully remote, with no requirement to attend an office. While you will be trusted to manage your own portfolio, you will not be doing this alone, you will be fully supported by, and remain a genuine part of, the wider HIBS team.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage a personal portfolio of health industry clients, delivering all processing on a scheduled fortnightly rotation
- Process payroll, including staff and GP Registrar payments, superannuation, accounts payable and receivable management, and bank and credit card reconciliations
- Manage the doctor payment cycle end-to-end, including preparing RCTIs, reconciling individual doctor accounts, and processing payments via practice management software such as Best Practice and Genie
- Prepare and lodge quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS),



and Instalment Activity Statement (IAS) obligations for your portfolio
- Complete end-of-month reconciliations, including balance sheet, profit and loss, wages and liability account reviews
- Manage End of Financial Year requirements for your portfolio, including STP finalisation, WorkCover declarations and Fair Work wage updates
- Liaise directly with clients and external accountants to support accurate, compliant reporting

About You

- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting (or working towards), and currently registered as a BAS Agent, this is essential
- Demonstrated experience managing a multi-client bookkeeping portfolio; experience within the health or medical industry is highly regarded
- Robust working knowledge of payroll, superannuation, BAS/IAS preparation and reconciliations
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a fortnightly processing cycle across multiple clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach that supports consistent processes across the business, what we call the “HIBS way”
- This is an employed position within our team, not a sub-contracting or sole-trader arrangement, we're looking for someone who wants to be part of a small, collaborative team, not working solo
