An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Mine Planning Engineer to join an expanding mining company entering an exciting phase of growth.
n
With a number of recent mine restart projects due to commence, this is a key role within the corporate technical team, providing the opportunity to influence long‐term mine planning, project development and operational strategy across a growing portfolio of assets.
n
Based in the company's Brisbane head office, this is a Monday to Friday corporate role with occasional travel to operating and project sites.
n
We are seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Mine Planning Engineer who can bring significant long‐term mine planning experience, combined with a proven background in open‐cut hardrock mining, ideally across Gold and Copper operations.

About the Role
n
Reporting into the senior technical leadership team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering mine plans that support the company's growth strategy and upcoming mine restart projects.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Lead long-term mine planning activities across existing and developing mining projects.
n
- Develop and optimise strategic mine plans, schedules and production scenarios.
n
- Provide technical input into mine restart and project development studies.
n
- Assess mine design, sequencing, production strategies and operational opportunities.
n
- Work closely with geology, technical services, operations and senior management teams.
n
- Provide high-quality technical advice to support investment and business decisions.
n
- Identify opportunities to optimise mine plans, production outcomes and project economics.
n
- Contribute to feasibility studies, life-of-mine planning and project evaluations.
n
- Support the transition of projects from planning and study phases through to execution.
n
- Communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About You
n
The successful candidate will be an experienced Mine Planning professional with a strong technical foundation and the ability to operate at a strategic level.
n
You will ideally bring:
n
n
- Significant long-term mine planning experience within the mining industry.
n
- Proven experience in open-cut hardrock mining.
n
- Strong exposure to Gold and/or Copper operations.
n
- Experience contributing to or leading mine restart projects is highly desirable.
n
- Strong understanding of mine design, scheduling, optimisation and life-of-mine planning.
n
- Demonstrated ability to develop robust and practical long-term mine plans.
n
- Advanced experience with Deswik, Spry and Vulcan software.
n
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial skills.
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
n
- The ability to work collaboratively across technical, operational and corporate teams.
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
n
