Melbourne
SandS Australia is a globally connected business advisory, finance and operational solutions firm, proudly headquartered in Melbourne and delivering strategic, cost-optimised services to 50+ clients across Australia, the UK, US, Canada, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
We empower ambitious startups, scaling SMEs, corporate enterprises, and government-funded organisations by integrating senior financial and operational leadership with a high-performance delivery model built to exceed Australian and international standards.
Our strength lies in bridging strategy and execution. From CFO support to full-scale operational transformation, we help business leaders unlock growth, streamline complexity, and operate with greater clarity, confidence, and control.
We recruit from a global pool of over 300,000+ professionals but only the top 1 in 3,000 make it through our rigorous 6-stage selection process, including technical testing, real-world simulations, and director-led interviews. Each team member is trained to exceed Australian business standards, ensuring quality and consistency from day one.
We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds and are committed to building inclusive, client-focused teams that consistently exceed expectations.
THE ROLE
This is a senior consulting appointment, not a coordination role. We are looking for an exceptional Project Manager to join our high-performing global team and take full ownership of project coordination, planning, procurement, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement across SandS Australia’s portfolio of engagements.
This role is designed for a project management professional who has already proven themselves in complex, multi-project environments and is ready to lead independently with full accountability for outcomes. You will be embedded within the SandS Australia delivery team, working in close partnership with engagement leads and senior stakeholders to drive projects forward with precision and professionalism.
You will be a trusted operator and delivery partner — responsible for keeping projects on track, documentation audit-ready, procurement compliant, and stakeholders informed at every stage. The role spans project coordination, commercial administration, contractor management, and operational reporting — and is suited to someone who can move across all of these seamlessly.
This is a role for someone who steps in, takes control, and delivers — without waiting to be told.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Stakeholder & Engagement Leadership
- Own the day-to-day relationship with senior engagement stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact on project priorities, risks, procurement decisions, and delivery progress.
- Drive proactive communication across all relevant parties — internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and external agencies — ensuring confidence and clarity at every stage.
- Lead project meetings, prepare professional agendas and minutes, and ensure all decisions, actions, and follow-ups are captured, assigned, and tracked to completion.
- Manage variations across project scope, timelines, and contractor arrangements, and escape commercial implications promptly to the engagement lead.
- Ensure adherence to governance standards, procurement policies, and contractual obligations across all active projects.
Project Delivery & Quality
- Maintain a live, up-to-date project register across all active engagements, including status, milestones, risks, issues, blockers, and upcoming decisions.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules, ensuring contractor deliverables, approvals, and critical deadlines are tracked and followed up proactively.
- Compile, organise, and maintain all project documentation — contracts, scopes of work, approvals, budgets, site reports, and correspondence — to an audit-ready standard at all times.
- Coordinate procurement activities in strict accordance with applicable policies and frameworks, including preparation and submission of procurement documentation.
- Liaise with contractors and consultants to manage deliverables, on-site activities, and contract obligations — tracking invoices, payment milestones, and variations against approved budgets.
- Resolve project issues through proactive problem management, protecting both the delivery outcome and the firm’s professional reputation.
Team & Delivery Coordination
- Set and enforce the delivery standard across all project workstreams, holding contractors, consultants, and internal contributors accountable to agreed timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Provide guidance and direction to any junior delivery staff or subcontractors engaged on the engagement.
- Drive productivity and efficiency through consistent process discipline, documentation rigour, and proactive follow-through.
- Plan capacity and workload across concurrent projects to ensure complete coverage and continuity.
- Contribute to the growth of SandS Australia’s project management function by identifying emerging engagement needs and supporting account development.
Operational & Reporting Oversight
- Provide regular, professional project status reports to senior stakeholders and the SandS engagement lead — clear, concise, and decision-ready.
- Implement and maintain project tracking, reporting, and documentation systems that provide full visibility across all workstreams at any point in time.
- Lead process improvement initiatives within engagements to drive efficiency, reduce rework, and improve delivery consistency.
- Ensure billable hours are accurately recorded and accounted for across all project activity.
- Contribute to SandS Australia’s internal reporting on engagement health, commercial performance, and overall project outcomes.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are not just hiring a title. We are looking for a senior operator, trusted delivery partner, and self-directed professional.
- Minimum 10+ years in a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager role, with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex, concurrent project programmes.
- Experience working across diverse sectors — including government, infrastructure, construction, professional services, or community organisations — and the ability to adapt quickly to new environments.
- Strong knowledge of procurement frameworks, contract management, and tender or vendor panel documentation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities, stakeholder groups, and funding or compliance requirements.
- Exceptional written communication skills — able to produce professional reports, briefs, procurement documents, and correspondence to an international standard.
- High level of self-organisation and initiative — you structure your own workload, anticipate what is needed, and deliver without hand-holding.
- High emotional intelligence and a relationship-driven approach — comfortable managing sensitive stakeholder dynamics with professionalism and discretion.
- Operationally minded — comfortable building systems, documentation frameworks, and project structures, not just managing within them.
- Confident operating in a fast-paced, global, remote environment where accountability is personal and standards are non-negotiable.
- Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Monday.com, Asana, or similar) and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in project management, construction management, engineering, planning, or a related discipline.
- PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- CIMA qualification or partial completion — this is considered a strong added advantage, reflecting the commercial and financial rigour we bring to every engagement.
- Experience managing grant-funded or government-funded projects and associated reporting or acquittal requirements.
- Prior exposure to Australian or international public sector, infrastructure, or community-focused engagements.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS
We believe in capability, not guesswork.
Our selection process for senior roles includes three focused assessments designed to identify the best-fit professional:
- Technical & Accuracy — Evaluates your ability to structure a complex, multi-project environment from limited information, manage documentation to a professional standard, and produce accurate, governance-ready outputs.
- Communication & Relationships — Assess how well you manage senior stakeholder expectations, communicate project status clearly, and build trust with leadership teams, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Efficiency & Prioritisation — Measures your ability to manage competing project demands — staying organised, thinking clearly, and applying sound judgement under pressure across multiple concurrent workstreams.
Candidates who successfully complete all assessments will progress to a final interview centred on leadership mindset, feedback openness, and expectation alignment.
Only candidates genuinely committed to excelling through a rigorous, high-standard process are encouraged to apply.
