About the role

We are seeking experienced Senior Lawyer to lead a division of the firm, based in our Spotswood, Victoria office. This is a full time position that offers a unique opportunity to take on a leadership role within a growing legal practice. As a Senior Lawyer, you will be instrumental in driving the strategic direction of your division, building and mentoring a high-performing team, and delivering exceptional legal services to our diverse client base.

This role sits at the heart of our firm's operations and offers the chance to shape the future of you your team and the firm whilst maintaining the highest standards of legal excellence.

Key responsibilities

- Leading and managing a division of the firm, including setting strategic objectives and overseeing operational performance
- Building, developing and mentoring a team of lawyers and support staff to ensure high-quality service delivery and professional growth
- Providing senior-level legal advice across a range of matters and practice areas with a focus on commercial law
- Overseeing the quality and standard of legal work produced by your team and ensuring compliance with professional and ethical obligations
- Developing and nurturing client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and contributing to the firm's growth and profitability
- Participating in business development activities and thought leadership initiatives to establish the firm's reputation in key practice areas




- Collaborating with partners and other divisions to ensure seamless service delivery and knowledge sharing across the firm
- Contributing to the development of firm policies, procedures and best practices that support operational excellence
- Managing budgets and resources within your division to optimise efficiency and financial performance

What we're looking for

- Significant post-qualification legal experience, with demonstrated expertise in your chosen practice area preferably with a extensive experience in commercial
- Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of successfully leading teams and delivering results
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of business drivers within legal practice
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and the ability to identify business opportunities and develop growth initiatives
- High level of professionalism and commitment to ethical practice and professional standards
- Preferred experience in business development, practice management, or strategic planning within a law firm environment
