The difference you'll make

As Senior Legal Counsel, you'll help shape the future of purpose-led banking by providing trusted legal advice that enables confident decision-making across Bank First. This is a 6 month contract opportunity , offering the chance to make an immediate impact across a diverse portfolio of legal, governance and regulatory matters.

You'll navigate complex legal and governance challenges, support strategic initiatives and help the business move forward with clarity. With exposure to a diverse range of banking, commercial and compliance work, you'll have the autonomy to take ownership, contribute to meaningful projects and make an impact from day one.

Your expertise will help protect what matters most while supporting better outcomes for the teachers and nurses we're proud to serve.

Who we're looking for

You'll bring sound commercial judgement, the ability to navigate complex business and regulatory challenges and confidence partnering with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

You're comfortable managing a broad and varied workload and thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and no two days are the same.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, bringing a practical, solutions-focused approach to complex legal, governance and regulatory challenges.

You'll also bring:

- Australian legal qualifications and a current unrestricted practising certificate.




- Experience providing corporate, commercial and regulatory legal advice within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment.
- Solid expertise in drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial, procurement and supplier agreements.
- The ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, commercially focused advice that supports business decision-making.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and confidently influence outcomes across the organisation.
