The Opportunity
As the Senior People & Culture Advisor, you will provide expert advice and support across the employee lifecycle while partnering with managers to build leadership capability, manage employment risks, and foster a positive workplace culture.
Working closely with operational leaders, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance, supporting organisational initiatives, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Shaw Contracting's people systems, processes, and practices.
What You'll Do
- Support strategic workforce partnering, leadership and organisational improvement.
- Develops, leads and influences strategic workforce initiatives aligned to business objectives.
- Provide trusted advice and coaching to leaders on people management matters.
- Leads complex employee relations, investigations, performance management and industrial relations matters.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession activities.
- Guides leaders through performance management, development planning, and talent initiatives.
- Support organisational change and workforce transition activities.
- Interpret and provide advice on employment legislation, Awards, workplace agreements, and company policies.
- Make recommendations on the development and continuous improvement of People & Culture frameworks, policies, procedures, and systems.
- Analyse people data and workforce trends to support informed decision-making.
- Assist in the delivery of employee engagement, wellbeing, learning,
and cultural initiatives.
- Support compliance activities, audits, reporting, and workforce governance requirements.
- Collaborate with operational teams to ensure people practices align with business needs and objectives.
About You To succeed in this role, you will be a confident and capable People and Culture professional who can build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and provide practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Employment Relations, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Senior Human Resources, People & Culture, or Employee Relations role.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and contemporary HR practices.
- Experience supporting operational, construction, infrastructure, industrial, or blue-collar workforces will be highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and coaching skills.
- Strong organisational and time management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- A collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions-focused approach.

Important Information
This role involves statewide travel across Tasmania, as required. It is best suited to candidates who are already based in Tasmania, or those genuinely looking to relocate to Tasmania.
