Job Description
The Opportunity
n
We are currently partnering with a large Queensland Government department to recruit an experienced Senior Management Accountant (AO6) for an initialcontract opportunity.
n
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting services that support strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join a collaborative team and contribute to meaningful outcomes within a complex government environment.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Deliver accurate and timely financial management reporting, analysis and financial advice.
n
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and targets, identifying risks and providing recommendations to improve outcomes.
n
- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc management reports, reconciliations, forecasting, budget revisions and financial analysis.
n
- Assist in the preparation of the annual State Budget, including Budget Papers, Annual Reports, Budget Submissions and briefing materials.
n
- Support the development and continuous improvement of financial management policies, processes and reporting frameworks.
n
- Ensure budget allocations and revisions are accurately maintained and reconciled within the budget management system.
n
- Build robust, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, Queensland Treasury and external service providers.
n
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and provide financial analysis and support across a range of projects.
n

About You
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
n
- CPA or CA qualification, or equivalent professional membership such as IPA/MIPA, is highly desirable.
n
- Previous Queensland Government or broader public sector finance experience will be highly regarded.
n
- Demonstrated experience across management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting within a complex organisation.
n
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and provide practical recommendations.
n
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organisation.
n
- Experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings, presentations and financial correspondence.
n
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
n
