Leading Hand Wahroonga (and other locations)

Posted: 12/08/2026

Closing Date: 11/09/2026

Job Type: Permanent - Full Time

Job Category: Construction

For over 30 years, DASCO has been building more than homes; we've built a reputation that speaks for itself. As a privately owned Australian developer and builder, our portfolio spans more than 7,000 dwellings valued in excess of $2.4 billion. We're a 4.5-star iCIRT rated builder and a certified Great Place to Work, and we've never walked away from a project.

We run a strong forward pipeline of major high-rise residential projects across Sydney, and we're after an experienced Leading Hand to help us deliver them. This isn't an entry point role, we're looking for someone who already knows how a high-rise site runs and can be trusted to lead on the floor plate from day one.

Job Description

We have a need for a Leading Hand starting late September/October, based at our Wahroonga project. As we move into the final quarter of 2026, we expect additional Leading Hand roles to open across some of our other Sydney locations.

While we're mindful of proximity to home when allocating people to projects, staff are expected to work on whichever project they're assigned to.

You'll be the person the crew looks to when things need sorting out. Working under the Site Supervisor, you'll run the day-to-day on your area of the floor plate; keeping trades moving, sequencing locked in, and quality and safety non-negotiable.

Day to day, you will:

- Lead and coordinate site crews and trades across your area of a high-rise project
- Drive sequencing, access and materials movement to keep multiple trades working without clashing
- Support the Site Supervisor to hit daily and weekly programme targets
- Run toolbox talks, enforce housekeeping, and shut down unsafe work before it becomes an incident
- Check quality as work progresses and flag issues before they become defects
- Coordinate crane and hoist bookings, deliveries and site set-up as required

- Deal directly with subcontractor foremen — sort problems on the spot, don't let them sit
- Set the standard for how the crew works, every day, without needing to be told

This role works under a Site Supervisor and is a genuine step toward a Supervisor role for the right person.

Desired Skills and Experience

We need someone who can hit the ground running on a live high-rise site.

- Solid preference for high-rise residential experience. For us this means you've worked on multi-storey towers, not just low-rise or townhouse projects, and you understand the pace, coordination and pressure that comes with vertical construction.
- Broad, rounded experience across multiple stages of a build — structure, façade and finishes/internals, not just one trade or one stage on repeat. The more stages you've genuinely worked across, the more useful you are to us.
- Current White Card (General Construction Induction)
- Ability to read drawings and understand construction sequencing without hand-holding
- Low ego, team-first attitude. You lead by doing, not by talking yourself up. You work well with others and pitch in where needed to get the job done.
- A genuine, lived commitment to safety

Highly regarded:

- First Aid certificate
- Tickets such as EWP, forklift, dogman/rigging, or working at heights
- Prior experience formally leading or supervising a crew
- Experience across more than one builder or project type — shows you can adapt, not just repeat what you know

How this affects your salary band: We pay for breadth and depth. A Leading Hand who's only ever worked one stage (say, structure) on one type of project will sit at the lower end of our band. Someone who's rounded; genuine experience across structure, façade and finishes, ideally on high-rise, and who can run a crew with minimal supervision — will be placed significantly higher. Tell us the full scope of what you've actually done on-site; it directly determines where you land on offer. We value honestly, and self awareness around what you have already done and where your learning opportunities lie.
