Site / Project Engineer – Rail | Gold Coast

About the role

MMD Recruitment is seeking an experienced Site / Project Engineer – Rail for a contract prospect on the Gold Coast, Queensland, working directly with a Tier 1 contractor on a major rail infrastructure project. This is a site-based role suited to an engineer with strong rail construction experience and, importantly, previous exposure to rail signalling works.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider project team to support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of works on site.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate and supervise day-to-day rail construction activities on site
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality requirements and project standards
- Support the delivery and coordination of rail signalling works
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, supervisors and project stakeholders
- Conduct site inspections and monitor construction progress
- Assist with planning, programming and coordination of site activities
- Prepare and maintain site documentation, including progress reports, ITPs, test records, RFIs and as-built information
- Monitor quality assurance and ensure works meet required standards
- Support health, safety and environmental requirements across the project
- Identify and resolve site-based engineering and construction issues
- Provide technical support to the Project Manager and wider delivery team

What we're looking for

- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous rail project experience is essential




- Rail signalling experience is required
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience working as a Site Engineer or Project Engineer
- Experience working on major infrastructure or Tier 1 construction projects highly regarded
- Strong understanding of rail construction methodologies and site delivery
- Sound knowledge of Australian engineering standards and construction requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple work fronts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced site environment
- Current Australian working rights
