Principal Site Reliability Engineer | Sydney

We’re partnering with a leading technology-driven financial services organisation to appoint a Principal Site Reliability Engineer into its core Reliability Engineering function.

This is not a traditional operations-focused SRE role. It is a senior engineering leadership position for someone who can combine deep software engineering and architecture expertise with a strong understanding of reliability, scalability and resilience.

You will:

- Shape the technical roadmap and engineering strategy
- Architect scalable, secure and highly resilient systems
- Remain technically involved through design, coding and code reviews
- Establish engineering standards and modern development practices
- Mentor senior engineers and build a culture of technical excellence
- Improve platform reliability, incident management and operational performance
- Explore how AI and emerging technologies can improve engineering outcomes
- Influence senior product, technology and business stakeholders

We’re looking for someone with:

- Principal,



Staff or Lead-level engineering experience
- Strong software design and architecture capability
- Experience building and operating complex, high-performance systems at scale
- Deep knowledge of reliability engineering and modern software development
- The ability to translate business requirements into practical, extensible solutions
- A track record of influencing and inspiring high-performing engineering teams
- Experience in financial services or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous
