About the Project

n

Tetra Tech Coffey is delivering environmental and contaminated land services to support a major metals refinery closure in Northern Territory, a major component of a broader decommissioning program. Works involve remediation tracking, contaminated materials management, validation of remediation scopes, and compliance oversight in a complex remote industrial environment.

The Role

n

We are seeking an experienced (2 to 5 years) Contaminated Land Consultant (field‐based) to provide on-site soil validation advice and support, sampling supervision, and contaminated materials support during remediation earthworks.

n

You will work daily alongside the client, providing practical, technically defensible environmental advice to support the remediation objectives and maintain compliance with the Remediation Action Plan.

Key Responsibilities

n

Field Delivery

n

n
- Collect soil and surface water samples, to complete contaminated soil and surface water assessments, delineation, and validation sampling.
n
- Manage and maintain health and safety on a large remediation project with significant heavy plant movements.
n
- Provide field-based material advice to the remediation contractor.
n
- Oversee material tracking and compliance with the remediation action plan and the remediation validation plan.
n
- Manage unexpected finds and provide advice to the remediation contractor.
n




- Maintain strong QA/QC and field records.
n
- Undertake field pH testing.
n
- Work collaboratively with site teams, technical and project management teams based offsite.
n

Contractor Interface

n

n
- Act as the primary site contact for client requests and advice and manage technical delivery of requests in collaboration with the subject matter expert.
n
- Support daily pre‐starts and toolbox talks.
n
- Attend regular client meetings.
n
- Balance production needs with environmental compliance.
n

n

Reporting & Compliance

n

n
- Prepare field summaries and contribute to validation reporting.
n
- Prepare material classification and other technical memorandums, based on ongoing site requirements.
n
- Maintain chain‐of‐custody and coordinate laboratories.
n
- Support EMP, HSE, and regulatory compliance obligations.
n

About You

n

You'll have:

n

n
- You'll be a qualified Environmental Scientist with 2-5 years' experience in contaminated land consulting.
n
- Demonstrated experience conducting soil and surface water samples, assessments, delineation, and validation sampling on brownfield/industrial sites.
n
- Experience supporting civil earthworks.
n




- Solid documentation and communication skills.
n
- Current, unrestricted Australian Driver's License.
n
- Ability to meet company & project medical requirements.
n
- Confident working independently in remote FIFO settings.
n

- NT regulatory knowledge.
n
- Large‐scale remediation or decommissioning experience.
n
- FIFO or remote project experience.
n
