Senior Medical Advisor (GP) | Clinical Governance | 0.6 FTE

Are you an experienced General Practitioner (GP) looking to use your medical expertise beyond traditional clinical practice?

MARS Recruitment is partnering with a Federal Government department to recruit a Senior Medical Advisor for a unique part time opportunity focused on clinical governance, complex case review, healthcare quality and strategic medical advice.
n
Working 0.6 FTE / three days per week, this is an excellent portfolio opportunity for an experienced GP, Medical Officer or Medical Advisor looking to combine clinical practice with senior advisory work.

The Role
n
As Senior Medical Advisor, you will provide expert medical advice and clinical oversight within a complex healthcare environment.
n
Working within an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to clinical governance, quality assurance, risk management and the review of complex healthcare matters.
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
- Leading and chairing clinical case review forums
n
- Reviewing complex clinical cases and providing evidence-based recommendations
n
- Participating in incident reviews, clinical governance and risk management
n
- Providing senior-level medical advice to key stakeholders
n
- Preparing clinical reports, recommendations and briefing material
n
- Contributing to health policy, procedures and governance frameworks
n
- Supporting quality improvement and clinical assurance initiatives
n
- Analysing health data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
n
- Collaborating with internal and external healthcare stakeholders
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for an experienced medical professional who enjoys the broader governance, quality, risk and strategic aspects of healthcare.
n
You will require:
n
n
- Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
n
- Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM or another relevant specialist medical college
n
- Significant experience as a General Practitioner, Medical Officer or Medical Advisor
n
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, healthcare quality and risk management
n
- Experience reviewing complex clinical matters and providing evidence-based advice
n
- Excellent written communication and clinical report-writing skills
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and consultation capability
n
- Ability to work autonomously in a hybrid or remote environment
n
n
Experience within government, public health, correctional health, defence health, occupational health, healthcare policy, accreditation or clinical governance will be highly regarded.
n
An existing Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance is advantageous; however, sponsorship can be considered for a suitable candidate.
n
