You’ll work closely with clients, financial advisers and auditors, combining solid technical knowledge with practical problem-solving and exceptional attention to detail. From preparing financial statements and annual returns to navigating member transactions, pensions and regulatory requirements, you’ll play an important role in delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients.

You’ll also join a collaborative team where knowledge is shared, continuous improvement is encouraged and there’s plenty of opportunity to deepen your technical expertise.

What you’ll do

- Prepare annual financial statements for SMSFs in accordance with accounting standards and superannuation legislation.
- Prepare and lodge SMSF annual returns.
- Process member transactions, including contributions, rollovers, pensions and benefit payments.
- Prepare pension calculations, including minimum pension requirements, and coordinate actuarial certificates where required.
- Reconcile investment portfolios across shares, managed funds, property and other assets.
- Prepare BAS and IAS where applicable.
- Liaise with SMSF auditors and respond to audit queries, ensuring matters are resolved accurately and efficiently.
- Manage your portfolio to ensure all SMSF deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

Technical & regulatory expertise
- Ensure SMSFs remain compliant with the SIS Act and Regulations, ATO requirements and relevant superannuation legislation.
- Monitor contribution caps,

transfer balance caps and pension limits.
- Identify potential compliance issues and escalate matters where appropriate.
- Keep up to date with legislative and regulatory changes affecting SMSFs and apply this knowledge to your work.
- Work through complex or unusual transactions with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

Client relationships

Great SMSF accounting is about more than numbers - it’s about understanding the client behind the fund.
- Liaise directly with clients, financial advisers and other professional advisers.
- Build strong and trusted relationships through responsive and professional communication.
- Respond to client queries clearly and within agreed timeframes.
- Assist with the establishment and wind-up of SMSFs.
- Provide general guidance on superannuation matters within your licensing and professional scope.

Systems & continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using SMSF administration platforms such as BGL360, Class or similar.
- Manage workflow and deadlines across your portfolio.
- Ensure work is accurately documented and completed in line with internal processes and quality standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and efficiencies across the SMSF function.
- Contribute ideas and share knowledge to help strengthen the broader team.

What you’ll bring

You’re someone who enjoys getting into the detail, understands the importance of compliance and takes pride in delivering quality work for clients.

You’ll ideally bring

- 2+ years’ experience in SMSF accounting and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of superannuation legislation and taxation law.
- Experience using SMSF administration software such as BGL, Class or similar.
- Excellent attention to detail and a highly organised approach to managing multiple funds and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence dealing with clients and professional advisers.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and work towards practical solutions.
- A high level of professionalism, integrity and accountability.

It would be great if you also have:
- CA or CPA qualification or are currently studying towards one.
- Experience working with pension strategies and complex SMSF structures.
- Knowledge of Division 7A, CGT and small business concessions as they relate to SMSFs.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a growing Superannuation team where you can take ownership of your work, build meaningful client relationships and continue developing your technical expertise.

We work with a diverse client base, meaning no two funds are exactly the same. You’ll have the prospect to tackle interesting and complex matters, work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to improving the way we deliver SMSF services.

We’re looking for someone who wants to be more than a number-processor, someone who brings curiosity, initiative and a genuine commitment to getting the right outcome for clients.

If you’re ready for your next step in SMSF accounting and want to join a team where your expertise and ideas are valued, we’d love to hear from you.
