Condobolin Aboriginal Health Service
Condobolin
Make a difference. Build connections. Strengthen community.
Are you someone who genuinely cares about people and wants your work to mean something? Condobolin Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) is looking for a full-time Social & Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Worker to join our growing SEWB team.
This is a hands-on community role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, building relationships and helping individuals and families navigate challenges and achieve better outcomes.
For us, the right fit matters.
We are looking for someone who is positive, motivated and community-minded; someone who wants to be part of a team, is willing to learn and grow, and understands that excellent outcomes come from working with people, not just for them.
About the role
As a SEWB Worker, you will work alongside Aboriginal individuals, families and community members to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing through culturally safe, practical and person-centred support. No two days will necessarily look the same. You may be supporting a client one-on-one, helping someone connect with another service, participating in a community event, delivering a wellbeing activity or working with the broader CAHS team to respond to community needs.
Your work will include
- Providing culturally safe, strengths-based support and case management.
- Building trusted relationships with clients, families and community.
- Supporting people to identify their needs, strengths and goals.
- Connecting clients with health, housing, financial, mental health, AOD, family and other support services.
- Advocating for clients and helping them navigate services and systems.
- Contributing to SEWB groups, activities, outreach and community events.
- Working collaboratively with the SEWB team, CAHS clinical services and external organisations.
- Maintaining appropriate client records, case notes and program documentation.
- Contributing ideas and helping us continually improve the way we support our community.
Who we're looking for
Skills and experience are important, but who you are and how you work with people matters just as much. You'll be a great fit for CAHS if you:
- Are genuinely motivated by making a difference for Aboriginal people, families and community.
- Build relationships naturally and treat people with kindness, dignity and respect.
- Are a team player who shares information, helps others and contributes to a positive workplace.
- Can put the needs of clients and community ahead of ego.
- Take responsibility for your work and follow through on commitments.
- Are willing to ask for help, receive feedback and keep learning.
- Bring ideas and look for ways we can do things better.
- Can maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Are resilient, practical and able to stay calm when situations become challenging.
- Understand that cultural safety is everyone's responsibility.
- Want to grow your skills and build a career in Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
What you'll bring
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in community services, Aboriginal health, social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, AOD, family support, youth work or a related area.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- An understanding of the social, cultural and historical factors that influence Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
- The ability to work respectfully with people experiencing complex circumstances.
- Sound organisational and record-keeping skills.
- A relevant qualification in community services, mental health, Aboriginal health, counselling or a related discipline or a willingness to undertake further training.
- A current driver's licence.
- The ability to obtain the required Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
Why join CAHS?
CAHS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation with a strong connection to the Condobolin community. We are continuing to grow our services and our workforce, and we want people who are excited about being part of that journey.
You'll join an organisation where you can:
- Do work that has a real and visible impact in community.
- Be part of a supportive, community-focused SEWB team.
- Work across individual support, programs and community activities.
- Develop your skills through training and professional development.
- Contribute ideas and help shape how our services develop.
- Build a meaningful career in Aboriginal community-controlled health.
- Access attractive not-for-profit salary packaging benefits.
More than a job
We're not looking for someone who simply wants to fill a position. We're looking for someone who wants to turn up, contribute, learn, support their teammates and make a difference.
If you're passionate about strengthening the wellbeing of Aboriginal people and families and want to be part of a team working for better outcomes in Condobolin, we'd love to hear from you.
How to apply
Please submit your resume and a short cover letter telling us about yourself, your experience and, importantly, why you think you would be a great fit for CAHS and our community.
