The Role

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer with strong expertise in application security to support ACPL’s technical sales function across ANZ.

Working closely with Account Managers, Engineering and Delivery teams, you will lead the technical component of customer engagements from initial discovery through solution design, demonstration, Proof of Concept, technical validation and implementation handover.

The role requires a combination of strong engineering capability, commercial awareness and customer-facing confidence. You will be expected to understand customer requirements, develop appropriate technical architectures and clearly articulate the business and technical value of the proposed solution.

Key Responsibilities

- Partner with Account Managers throughout the technical sales cycle, including discovery, qualification, solution validation and close.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, architecture discussions and customer whiteboarding workshops.
- Translate customer business and security requirements into appropriate application security and cybersecurity solution architectures.
- Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops and solution presentations to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Design, scope and manage Proofs of Concept and Proofs of Value with clearly defined technical and business success criteria.
- Architect solutions across key security domains, including:
- Application Security: WAF, DDoS Protection, Bot Management and API Security
- Zero Trust and SSE: Secure Web Gateway, Access and Browser Isolation




- Developer and edge security platforms
- AI and emerging security capabilities
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support during evaluations and customer validation activities.
- Develop solution designs, technical scopes and supporting documentation for transition into ACPL’s delivery and managed services teams.
- Position ACPL’s broader capabilities across MDR, data security, professional services and lifecycle support where relevant.
- Act as the technical interface between customers, ACPL Sales, Engineering and Delivery.
- Maintain current knowledge of application security, Zero Trust, SSE, edge security and the wider competitive cybersecurity landscape.

Essential Experience and Capability

- Strong hands-on experience and technical expertise in application security.
- Practical knowledge of technologies such as Web Application Firewalls, DDoS protection, API security, bot management and related security controls.
- Strong technical background in cybersecurity, networking, cloud or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong knowledge of networking and security fundamentals, including DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, routing, proxy architecture, Secure Web Gateway technologies and firewalls.
- Ability to design and communicate technical architectures and confidently whiteboard solutions with both technical and senior business stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical validation capability.
- Experience working directly with customers in a pre-sales, solutions engineering, consulting or similar technical role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to support the progression of technical opportunities through the sales cycle.

Highly Desirable

- Hands-on Cloudflare experience across application security, Zero Trust, SSE,



DNS or the developer platform will be highly regarded as part of the selection process.
- Experience with data security concepts including data discovery, classification and Data Loss Prevention.
- Familiarity with SSE and proxy platforms such as Netskope and Zscaler.
- Experience with identity and access platforms including Microsoft Entra ID and Okta.
- Understanding of endpoint deployment and management technologies such as Microsoft Intune, NinjaOne or similar RMM platforms.
- Cloud security experience across AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with Terraform, REST APIs, automation or JavaScript.
- Relevant networking, cybersecurity or cloud certifications.
- Knowledge of Australian cybersecurity and compliance frameworks including ACSC Essential Eight, ISO 27001 and APRA CPS 234.

ACPL takes a capability-led approach to hiring.

While this role is expected to suit a mid-to-senior level qualified, we place greater emphasis on demonstrated application security expertise, technical judgement, customer engagement capability and commercial effectiveness than on a prescribed number of years of experience.

Working Model and Compensation

This role may be based in Sydney or Melbourne and operates under a hybrid working model incorporating ACPL offices, customer sites and remote work.

Travel across Australia and New Zealand will be required depending on customer and business requirements.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development and growth of ACPL’s Solutions Engineering capability across ANZ.
