Are you a Speech Language Pathologist looking for flexible casual work that fits around your current commitments?

Deaf Connect is seeking a casual Speech Language Pathologist in Mackay or Cairns to deliver high-quality speech and language assessments for Deaf and hard of hearing clients.

With a focus on assessment, clinical recommendations, reporting and the development of treatment plans for delivery by Allied Health Assistants, this opportunity is ideal for an experienced clinician looking to complement existing work, private practice or other commitments. You’ll provide direct support and clinical supervision to Allied Health Assistants delivering delegated therapy activities, with some travel required based on client needs.

What You’ll Do

- Conduct evidence-based speech, language and communication assessments
- Analyse findings and provide clinical recommendations
- Prepare high-quality assessment reports
- Develop individualised, client and family-centred treatment plans
- Develop treatment plans and programs for delivery by Allied Health Assistants within their scope of practice
- Provide direct support,



instruction and clinical supervision to Allied Health Assistants delivering delegated therapy activities
- Monitor client progress and review or adjust delegated treatment plans as required
- Communicate assessment outcomes, treatment recommendations and progress with clients, families and relevant stakeholders
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary Allied Health team
- Travel as required to support client assessment and service needs

About You

You’ll have a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and Certified Practising Membership with Speech Pathology Australia, along with robust assessment, clinical reasoning, report-writing, communication and organisational skills.

You’ll be confident developing treatment plans and providing appropriate clinical direction and supervision to Allied Health Assistants supporting delegated therapy activities.

Experience with Deaf and hard of hearing clients, paediatrics, NDIS, Auslan, working with Allied Health Assistants or providing clinical supervision is valued but not essential.

If you don’t know Auslan, we’ll support you to develop your knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and Auslan.
