Senior BI Data Researcher | Business Intelligence & Data Analytics

Location: 100% Remote

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $140,000 – $160,000 USD annually

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior BI Data Researcher to join our client's data and analytics function in a fully remote capacity.

This is a highly analytical role for someone who can go beyond producing reports. You will be responsible for researching complex datasets, identifying trends and patterns, validating data, developing BI solutions, and translating analytical findings into actionable business insights.

The ideal candidate combines strong SQL and data analysis expertise with hands-on experience in Business Intelligence, data visualization, data modeling, and research-driven problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

- Research, analyze, and interpret large and complex datasets to identify meaningful trends, patterns, anomalies, and opportunities.
- Translate business questions and research requirements into structured data analysis approaches.
- Extract, clean, transform, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
- Build and maintain Business Intelligence dashboards, reports, and analytical models .
- Use tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI platforms to communicate insights effectively.
- Develop data models and maintain reliable analytical datasets.
- Conduct exploratory and deep-dive data analysis to investigate business problems.
- Identify data-quality issues, inconsistencies, gaps, and anomalies and recommend corrective actions.




- Develop meaningful KPIs, metrics, reports, and analytical frameworks.
- Convert complex analytical findings into clear recommendations for business and technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, researchers, and business stakeholders.
- Document research methodology, datasets, analytical assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
- Continuously improve data research, reporting, visualization, and analytical processes.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field .
- 5+ years of professional experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Research, Data Analysis, or a closely related field.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience working with complex/large datasets.
- Strong understanding of data analysis, data modeling, data validation, and data quality .
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or another enterprise BI platform .
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to investigate problems independently.
- Ability to translate raw data into explicit, actionable business insights .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Python or R for data analysis and automation.
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional modeling, including Star Schema.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Microsoft Fabric .
- Experience with advanced Power BI, including DAX and Power Query .
- Experience conducting statistical analysis, forecasting, or predictive analytics.
- Familiarity with APIs and external data sources.
- Experience presenting analytical findings to senior leadership.
