We are opening a new Matchbox store at Capalaba Park in late October, and we are looking for the person to run it.

This is the job before the job. You will be in the store while it is being set up, hiring your own team, learning the centre, and building a customer base from the first day the doors open. How this store trades will largely come down to you.

About Matchbox

We have been selling kitchenware in Australia for more than 30 years: cookware, tableware, cutlery and hydration. Every product we sell carries a 10 year warranty, which almost nobody else in our category offers and which is the strongest thing you will have in your hands on the floor.

Matchbox is family owned and run. There is no area manager layer, so you deal with the owners directly and decisions get made quickly. Several of our team have been with us more than 20 years. We would like the person who takes on Capalaba to be one of them.

Queensland is where we are growing, and Capalaba Park is the next step.

What you will be doing

- Hiring, rostering, coaching and leading the store team
- Owning the store's sales, margin and expenses against budget
- Keeping the store presented and merchandised to Matchbox standard
- Managing stock, deliveries, stocktakes and loss prevention
- Selling on suitability,



durability and the 10 year warranty rather than on discount
- Setting the culture on the floor, which in a new store means setting it from scratch

What we are looking for

- Retail leadership experience, either as a Store Manager or as a 2IC ready to step up
- Someone who enjoys building a team, not just filling a roster
- A good eye for how a store looks
- Comfortable with targets, budgets and stock numbers
- Real warmth with customers. Our regulars come back for the people as much as the product.

Experience opening a current store is a bonus, not a requirement.
