This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for the strategy, growth, commercial performance, people and client development of the practice.

We are partnering with a progressive national law firm on the appointment of a Head of Practice to lead one of the firm's largest and fastest-growing practice areas. The firm operates differently from the traditional law firm model. Performance is centred around team-based success, client outcomes, sustainable growth and smarter service delivery, supported by significant investment in technology, automation and AI.

Description

- Developing and executing the practice's long-term strategy and growth plan;
n
- Taking ownership of the practice's commercial performance and P
n
- Identifying and pursuing new markets, clients, referrers and revenue opportunities;
n
- Building, strengthening and expanding strategic client relationships;
n
- Developing the firm's market position and profile within the practice area;
n
- Leading a sizeable team of lawyers, senior practitioners and team leaders;
n
- Establishing clear expectations, accountability and performance standards across the practice;
n
- Coaching and developing senior lawyers and emerging leaders;
n
- Supporting recruitment, succession planning and retention as the practice continues to grow;
n
- Working collaboratively with other practice and business leaders across the firm;
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve profitability, productivity and service delivery;
n
- Driving process improvement and greater operational discipline across the practice; and
n
- Championing technology, automation and AI to improve client outcomes and create a more scalable legal service offering.

Profile

n

You may currently be a Partner, Principal, Practice Group Leader, Head of Legal, General Counsel or senior legal executive looking for the opportunity to take broader ownership of a legal business.

n

You will ideally bring:

n

n
- Significant experience within the relevant legal practice area;
n
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing senior professionals and sizeable teams;
n
- A strong commercial mindset and understanding of the economics of a professional services business;
n
- Experience developing and executing growth strategies;
n
- A track record of building and maintaining senior client relationships;
n
- Strong business development and market engagement capability;
n
- Experience managing budgets, financial performance or a P
n
- The ability to identify opportunities for operational and commercial improvement;
n
- Robust leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills;
n
- An interest in technology, innovation, automation and the changing delivery of legal services; and
n
- The ability to translate strategy into action and create accountability for results.
