About The Role Location - Ballarat/ Geelong The Surveillance Coordinator leads a team responsible for coordinating consistent, risk-based surveillance across regional network improvement projects. The role ensures inspections and surveillance align with Department construction contract requirements, with a strong focus on prioritising resources, managing risks, and maintaining clear records and reporting.

Key responsibilities include providing team leadership and guidance, ensuring work is delivered in accordance with relevant standards and safety requirements, and developing robust, consistent and auditable processes to support effective governance and compliance. The role also leads, develops and supports staff, drives continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, promotes consistent practices across regions, and champions a strong safety culture and positive team environment.

- Delivers projects effectively by setting clear tasks, monitoring progress and taking timely corrective action to achieve outcomes.
- Uses sound judgement, critical thinking and systems thinking to resolve complex issues and develop practical solutions.
- Confidently manages difficult conversations, stakeholder issues and conflict to achieve timely, pragmatic outcomes.
- Leads and develops teams effectively, aligning workforce capability and resources with organisational priorities while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.




- Is adaptable and outcomes-focused, responding to changing priorities while connecting team activities to broader organisational and community outcomes.

- Experience in Project Management and/or Quality Assurance, with the ability to develop effective systems and processes for construction management.
- Experience and confidence in building others’ capability in contract management and governance.
- Experience managing small teams, with the ability to support performance, collaboration and continuous improvement.
