Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Research Support Officer to join the Griffith Business School Research Operations Team. Reporting to the Research Support Manager within the Dean (Research) Office, this position provides professional administrative and operational support for research activities across Griffith Business School.
As a shared resource, the Research Support Officer may support activities at Group, Department or Research Entity level.
Working under broad direction, the Research Support Officer is responsible for a varied portfolio of research operations, communications, events, projects, systems and administrative processes. The role supports the effective delivery and promotion of the School’s research activities, profile and impact. It is a qualified staff position focused on enabling research operations rather than undertaking academic research.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate operational, administrative and project activities for the Research Operations Team, researchers, committees and working groups, including preparing meeting papers and minutes, tracking action items and supporting agreed outcomes.
- Develop communications that promote GBS research and impact to internal and external audiences, including LinkedIn articles, research stories, web and intranet content, and other promotional material.
- Plan and coordinate research events, workshops, seminars and stakeholder engagement activities, managing timelines, communications, logistics and follow-up to support effective delivery.
- Coordinate the administration of small grant schemes and programs, including application rounds, submissions and records, assessment processes,
applicant communications and outcome reporting.
- Coordinate administrative processes relating to projects, finance and HR, including payments, invoicing, small budgets, routine correspondence and record management, in accordance with relevant University requirements.
- Gather, prepare and analyse research data, including publications and research income, for meetings, dashboards and reporting. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for the Research Operations Team.
- Maintain and support research information and profile platforms, including Symplectic Elements and Griffith Experts, to ensure the accuracy and visibility of GBS research information.
- Contribute to the delivery and promotion of strategic research programs and initiatives across Griffith Business School, its departments and research entities.
- Build effective working relationships with academic and professional staff, central University areas and external stakeholders, and use sound judgement to resolve routine matters or escalate issues where appropriate.
About you
- Experience developing research communications, including research stories, academic profiles, website content and social media content.
- Experience coordinating research seminars, workshops, conferences and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Experience supporting research teams, research centres,
institutes or academic departments including coordinating research-related committees or working groups and preparing research reports & briefing papers to support.
In addition you will have:
- Highly developed skills in coordinating professional administrative, operational or project activities, with the ability to organise competing priorities and deliver accurate work within agreed timeframes.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and engaging content for different audiences and communication channels.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with people at different levels.
- Experience gathering, maintaining and presenting information for reporting, meetings or decision-making, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- A positive, friendly and team-oriented approach, with a genuine willingness to assist others, share responsibilities and contribute to a supportive and collaborative working environment.
What we can offer
This is a full-time continuing position based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). From February 2027 (the anticipated relocation date), your primary work location will be Brisbane CBD – the date of the relocation is yet to be confirmed. As a multi-site university, Griffith may also require work across other locations as needed.
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 6 range $94,966 - $101,295 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $111,110 - $118,515 per annum.
