Renowned for its oysters, pristine coastline, amazing fishing and the spectacular Coffin Bay National Park. It is a fantastic place to live and work for anyone wanting to experience the wonders of regional South Australia.
The Coffin Bay Hotel is a busy coastal hotel with a strong local and tourist trade. During peak season, our kitchen can produce more than 250 meals per day, with an extensive à la carte lunch and dinner menu operating seven days a week.
Our menu features local seafood, steaks and other meats, pizzas, pub favourites and regularly changing specials.

We are looking for an experienced Chef who is confident working in a fast-paced kitchen. The role involves operating multiple fryers, pans and grill stations, cooking steaks to order, maintaining consistent food quality and coordinating effectively with other cooks, kitchen hands and front-of-house staff. This is a full-time permanent position. If you are seeking a fixed term contract of no less than 6 months we may also consider your application. Please state your preference in your covering letter.
Requirements
- Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery or similar (minimum Certificate 3)
- Food Safety Supervisor certification
- Experience in a similar high-volume kitchen role
- Experience rostering and coordinating kitchen staff
- Ability to work within food and labour budgets
- Experience liaising with suppliers and ordering stock
- Ability to work split shifts, including lunch and dinner services
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- High level of integrity, reliability and efficiency
- And importantly,
the ability to remain calm, respectful and organised during busy services
Accommodation
An onsite accommodation package is available for the right candidate, consisting of a spacious motel-style room with ensuite, fridge, microwave, television, internet and access to laundry facilities.

We are happy to consider applications from couples, with the Chef position being the priority role and the applicant's partner working in one or more of the following areas, depending on their experience and our operational requirements:
Bar Attendant
As part of our front-of-house team, you will serve tap and packaged beer, wine, spirits and mixed drinks across our main bar and dining areas.
The role also includes assisting with food service, delivering meals to tables, clearing plates, maintaining clean and presentable customer areas and assisting with other general front-of-house duties as required.
Requirements
- Previous bar or hospitality experience
- Current South Australian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Sound communication and customer service skills
- Current manual driver's licence desirable
Gaming Attendant
Our Gaming Attendants perform general bar and front-of-house duties while also supervising our gaming room, which contains 10 gaming machines and a TAB terminal.
Duties include assisting gaming patrons, maintaining the gaming area,
completing required gaming compliance procedures and providing skilled and responsible customer service.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Current South Australian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Current South Australian Responsible Service of Gambling qualification (minimum RSG1)
- Current manual driver's licence highly desirable
- Responsible Person approval/badge highly desirable
Kitchen Hand
Our Kitchen Hands provide essential support to our kitchen team during lunch and dinner services.
Duties include basic food preparation, assisting chefs and cooks, operating the commercial dishwasher, manually washing large pots and pans, cleaning and sanitising benches and equipment, sweeping and mopping floors, and assisting with food service and clearing tables when required.
These positions commonly involve split shifts covering lunch and dinner service, particularly during busy periods.
Guest Services / Housekeeping
Our Guest Services team is responsible for cleaning and preparing motel rooms, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of our main bar, dining room and other public areas. Duties include making beds, cleaning bathrooms, changing linen, vacuuming and mopping, laundry, replenishing supplies and general cleaning throughout the hotel. The role may also include assisting guests, managing linen supplies and reporting maintenance issues.
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience desirable
- High standard of cleanliness and attention to detail
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Good communication skills
