The Opportunity

Shawn Mendis Lawyers is seeking a Generalist Lawyer with 2 to 5 years of post-admission experience to join our growing Pakenham office.

We are primarily looking for a lawyer with experience in:

• Civil disputes and civil litigation

• Family law

• Criminal law

You will manage your own files, work directly with clients and receive support from the Principal Solicitor and our legal team.

Shawn Mendis Lawyers works closely with our partner firm, Mendis & Gibson Lawyers. Both firms work as one team by sharing legal knowledge, experience and resources.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing matters from initial instructions to completion

• Providing clear and practical legal advice

• Drafting applications, affidavits, submissions, consent orders and other court documents

• Appearing in courts and tribunals

• Attending mediations, conferences and settlement negotiations

• Conducting legal research and preparing matters for hearings

• Managing client relationships and court deadlines

• Working collaboratively with both legal teams

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

• Admission as an Australian legal practitioner

• A current Victorian practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one

• 2 to 5 years of post-admission experience

• Experience in one or more of our main legal areas

• Confidence handling court appearances, court drafting and mediations

• The ability to manage files with limited supervision





• Strong communication, drafting and time management skills
