HiTalent Recruitment is seeking an Intake Worker to join a specialist not-for-profit organisation that has supported women and children for 50 years. This is a permanent opportunity, working a 35 hour week.

Are you passionate about supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness? You will bring a compassionate and qualified approach, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions when supporting women and children experiencing complex and potentially high-risk circumstances. You will be the first point of contact for women and children seeking support due to domestic and family violence, homelessness or housing instability.

Reporting to the Team Leader (Intake and Outreach), your key responsibilities are:
Conduct trauma-informed and client-centred intake conversations
Complete initial assessments, triage and domestic violence risk assessments
Assess eligibility across internal programs and services
Respond to new referrals, phone enquiries and referral agencies
Provide information, support and appropriate referral pathways
Facilitate warm referrals to housing, legal, financial, Aboriginal, disability, mental health and other community services
Liaise with police, courts and external agencies where required
Maintain accurate,



timely and strengths-based case documentation
Apply child protection and mandatory reporting requirements
Provide culturally protected and inclusive intake practices

To be successful in this role, you will require:
Qualifications in Social Work, Community Services or a related discipline
Knowledge of domestic and family violence and its impact on women and children
A strong understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based, woman-centred and child-focused practice
Confidence identifying and assessing risk and responding appropriately to safety concerns
Understanding of mandatory reporting responsibilities
Robust communication, assessment and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage competing priorities within a busy intake environment
Knowledge of relevant government, community and specialist support services
Strong stakeholder and referral-network engagement skills
Current driver's licence
Willingness to undertake Working with Children and National Police Checks.
