The position involves the ongoing maintenance and management of sandalwood plantation areas, including operation and maintenance of agricultural machinery, vegetation control, property maintenance and general plantation activities. This is a hands-on rural position suited to a practical person with experience operating agricultural machinery and carrying out general farm and plantation maintenance. Key Responsibilities
Operate tractors and other agricultural and earthmoving machinery.
Carry out plantation maintenance and vegetation management.
Perform slashing, mowing, spraying and weed-control activities.
Maintain plantation access tracks, firebreaks and general property infrastructure.
Assist with fencing, gates and other property maintenance.
Assist with irrigation and water-management activities.
Carry out routine machinery checks, cleaning and basic maintenance.
Identify and report machinery faults and maintenance requirements.
-Assist with ongoing maintenance of sandalwood trees as required.
Undertake general farm and plantation duties.
Maintain a secure and clean working workplace.
Follow all workplace health and safety requirements and safe operating procedures.
Skills and Experience The successful applicant will ideally have:
Previous experience in plantation management of at least 4 years.
Demonstrated experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.
Positive mechanical aptitude and ability to carry out basic machinery maintenance.
Ability to work independently and responsibly with minimal supervision.
Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake outdoor manual work.
Strong work ethic and reliability.
Ability to follow instructions and workplace safety procedures.
Driver’s licence.
Relevant machinery licences or tickets are an advantage.
