Company Description Resourceful Australian Indian Network (RAIN) is a community service organization that began over 20 years ago with the aim of bringing seniors from the Indian Subcontinent community together in a welcoming, regular meeting space. Over time, RAIN has grown into a well-known network that supports social connection, wellbeing, and cultural engagement for its members. The organization now serves around 300 members, providing programs, events, and services tailored to the needs of older adults.

Volunteers play an key role in helping RAIN deliver inclusive, respectful, and culturally informed support across the Greater Sydney Area.

Role Description This is an on-site volunteer role based in the Greater Sydney Area. Volunteers support day-to-day activities such as welcoming and assisting seniors during gatherings, helping set up and pack down venues, and providing general event support.

Responsibilities may include assisting with registration, refreshments, light administrative tasks, and basic coordination of group activities. Volunteers also help ensure a friendly, protected, and inclusive environment by engaging respectfully with members and offering assistance as needed. Scheduling is flexible,



but reliability and a commitment to the community are important.

Qualifications
Robust interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, listen actively, and engage respectfully with seniors from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Organizational and time-management abilities to assist with event setup, coordination of activities, and basic administrative tasks.
Empathy, patience, and a community-minded attitude, with a genuine interest in supporting older adults and fostering social connection.
Ability to work collaboratively in a small team, follow directions from coordinators, and contribute positively to a supportive volunteer environment.
Reliability in attending scheduled sessions; prior experience in community service, aged care, or volunteering is helpful but not required.
Basic English language skills; familiarity with Indian Subcontinent languages or cultures is an advantage but not essential.
Willingness to comply with any relevant safety, confidentiality, or screening requirements applicable to community and senior services.
