About the role

Join an established, experienced trade team in a busy structural steel workshop. This is a hands-on fabrication role working with structural steel (mild steel) in Clontarf.
$50.00 / hr
6.00am to 4.00pm

Key responsibilities
MIG welding structural steel components to a high standard
Marking out and setting out fabrications from drawings to tight tolerances
Fitting and assembling beams, columns, cleats, base plates and trusses — tacking up square and true before weld-out
Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, weld symbols and cutting lists
Managing distortion control and weld sequencing on larger fabrications
Working independently from shop drawings with minimal supervision
Maintaining a clean, tidy and protected workshop

About you




Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or equivalent
Solid MIG welding experience essential
Ability to pass a practical weld test as part of the selection process
Confident reading structural steel/fabrication drawings
Physically capable of sustained hands-on trade work
Background in structural steel fabrication highly regarded
Overhead crane, forklift, or dogging/rigging tickets highly regarded but not essential
