POSITION OVERVIEW
Job Title: Rural Generalist (RG) / Specialist GP / VMO
Specialty: Rural & Remote Medicine / General Practice / Emergency Medicine / Advanced Procedural Skills
Location: Multiple Regional, Rural, and Remote Locations Across Australia (QLD, NSW, WA, NT, SA, TAS, VIC)
Job Type: Locum (Short-term cover, multi-week rosters, block rotations, and ongoing coverage)
Rates: Premium locum daily rates up to $2,000+ per day (dependent on location, remoteness, and VMO/on-call commitments)
ABOUT THE ROLES
Rewarding locum opportunities are available for skilled Rural Generalists to support essential health services, regional hospitals, and remote health centres throughout Australia.
These positions offer a diverse scope of practice combining primary care consulting with hospital inpatient care, emergency department cover, and optional procedural services. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive medical care tailored to regional and remote communities.
CLINICAL FOCUS AREAS:
Rural Primary Care: General practice consultations and comprehensive community health management
Emergency Department: Triage management,
acute trauma, resuscitation, and stabilization in rural emergency settings
Inpatient Ward Care: Daily ward rounds, admissions, discharges, and VMO hospital coverage
On-Call Responsibilities: Overnight emergency and hospital call coverage
Advanced Skills (Optional): Anaesthetics (JCCA), Obstetrics (DRANZCOG Advanced), Emergency Medicine, or Surgical/Skin Procedures based on your credentials

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Registration: Specialist Registration with AHPRA (FACRRM / FRACGP or equivalent, with recognized Rural Generalist pathway completion where applicable).
Clinical Experience: Proven background in Australian rural hospital ED, inpatient care, and primary care.
Certifications: Current ALS2 / REST / C-ME / EMST / REACT or equivalent emergency certificates.
