POSITION OVERVIEW
Job Title: Locum Procedural General Practitioner / Specialist GP (Rural Generalist / VMO)
Specialty: General Practice / Rural Generalism / Emergency Medicine / Obstetrics / Anaesthetics
Location: Multiple Regional, Rural, and Remote Locations Across Australia (NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, SA, NT, TAS)
Job Type: Locum (Short-term blocks, weekend cover, multi-week rosters, and ongoing clinical rotations)
Rates: Premium locum daily rates from $2,500 – $4,000+ per day (plus high on-call, call-back, and VMO session allowances depending on procedural scope and facility requirements)
ABOUT THE ROLES
High-demand locum prospects are available for skilled Procedural General Practitioners and Rural Generalists to provide vital clinical support to regional hospital facilities and community clinics across Australia.
These roles combine primary care consulting with hospital-based procedural duties, working closely with local multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive emergency, surgical, obstetric, or anaesthetic care.
CLINICAL FOCUS AREAS:
Emergency Medicine: Managing acute presentations, triage, trauma stabilization,
and critical care in rural Emergency Departments
GP Anaesthetics: Providing procedural anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgical/obstetric lists (JCCA / FARGP / FACRRM or equivalent)
GP Obstetrics: Antenatal care, intrapartum care, instrumental deliveries, and emergency Caesarean sections (DRANZCOG Advanced or equivalent)
Minor & Minor-Surgical Procedures: Skin cancer surgery, wound management, fracture care, and routine minor procedures

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Registration: Specialist Registration with AHPRA (FRACGP / FACRRM or equivalent).
Procedural Credentials: Recognized post-graduate qualifications or certified skills in Emergency, Anaesthetics (JCCA), Obstetrics (DRANZCOG Advanced), or General Surgery.
Clinical Experience: Recent, demonstrated experience in Australian rural general practice and hospital-based procedural care/on-call coverage.
